What started as a grandmother's recipe and a dream has become Portland's most beloved neighborhood bakery.
In 2010, Maria Rodriguez began baking bread from her kitchen β the same sourdough recipe her grandmother had perfected over decades in Oaxaca, Mexico. Word spread quickly through the neighborhood. Neighbors would leave jars and bags at the front door in exchange for fresh loaves.
By 2012, the demand had outgrown the kitchen. With the help of her family, Maria opened Sweet Rise Bakery on Flour Mill Lane β a cozy corner shop with vintage wooden shelves and the warm, yeasty aroma that still greets every customer who walks through the door.
Today, we bake over 200 loaves of bread, 150 pastries, and countless custom cakes every single day. But our philosophy hasn't changed: start with the best ingredients, respect the craft, and bake with love.
